Hiking and Exploring trip
Goal 1: Camping
Goal 2: Hiking and Off-Roading
Goal 3: Hide pots
Along Utah Highway 24, (which is a long lonely stretch of road) you come to a small town of Hanksville, Utah. Close to Goblin Valley, San Rafael Swell and Capitol Reef National Park. Most people overlook Hanksville on a regular basis. Although, it is one of our favorite places to camp, hike and off-road. With Henry Mountains to the south. The Henry’s have some epic hunting opportunities for big mule deer and the last known natural bloodline American Bison herd. I have been visiting this area for 14 years, and I never get bored with the options of things to dov in this area. This was a last minute trip, we didn’t make the pots for this. We just selected pots we had previously made in our free time. We hiked everyday finding some pictographs, petroglyphs, coal that we will come back to collect and use for firing some pots and some epic views. On our last day of hiking we hid 2 pots.
Again these pots are going to be within a mile of each other, but not next to each other. I will include a GPS location for those adventure seekers. You can access this area with a regular truck. Please note: the roads are not passable when even a little bit of moisture is on them. Do not go when raining or after it’s been raining. Be familiar with weather patterns for safety. There is lots of bentonite in the area therefore, it’s slimy when wet.
GPS Coordinates: BOTH POTS HAVE BEEN FOUND!!!!!!!
From left to right top to bottom: Pictographs, multiple Petroglyphs, multiple scenery, Mapache mug where it rests, Mapache attaching label to his pot, Mapache and his pot, me (Lolli) placing pot, lolli’s pot in resting place
