We are ending this Arizona Vacation with this final post. December 30th started out with the last hike, which only lasted half of the day as we had a planned visit to an old friend of my mom’s. I have known this lil’ gal since I was 5 years old when we moved to the states from Australia. Now, when I say lil I mean tiny, with the largest personality you will ever meet. She still lives in the home she did from back when I knew her year past. We have taken the time to visit her over the last few times in Show Low. Which is always a treat. She is 93 and lives alone, since her life long husband passed away in November 2020. She continues to run circles around the youth with 2 businesses and 8 acres to keep up with. I loved to visit as a young child and remember how remote their home was. My memories are helping in the garden and just playing outside in the juniper trees and gullies behind the house and beyond until I was tired, dirty and hunger brought me back indoors. Their home is still remote but there are some houses around her now. After our visit we returned to camp.
New Years Eve started out packing up camp, taking down the Christmas lights we had decorated the woods around us with and loading the Adventure Seeker up and headed out. We decided that Apple valley, Utah would be a good break in our travels, so that was the destination for night.
We arrived in Apple Valley after dark. This is the reason the pictures of pottery that we left are in the dark. No reference for scenery, sorry! This may make it more of a challenge.
After hiding pottery and catching a wink we packed up again and headed home to Cache Valley, Utah – Idaho.
